Why notes

Essays are expensive. Each one wants a thesis, a structure, and an ending, which is exactly why so many ideas never become anything. Notes are cheap. They let me think in public without the ceremony — and the good ones accrete into essays later.

The trick is to keep them atomic and linked, so the collection behaves like a garden rather than a pile. Roughness is a feature here, not an apology.
