Atomic notes
An atomic note holds a single idea, written so it makes sense on its own. The discipline is in the size: small enough that you can link to it precisely, not “my thoughts on economics” but “comparative advantage is about opportunity cost, not productivity”.
Atomic notes are the building blocks of a digital garden. Because each is self-contained, the same note can be cited from several essays without being rewritten — which is most of the point of keeping notes at all.
